Fortunately he had called his landlady who had urged him to break through the wall to get the trapped animal out.
In the footage Mr Cunningham can be heard calling out ‘Ronnie’ alongside his daughters and after a few moments, her bright green eyes appear and she quickly jumps into the room.
Mr Cunningham, who is a professor of economics at Baylor University, ha detto a MailOnline: ‘I got these two cats Betty and Veronica earlier this year. This was my first time to go out of town though for more than a day.
‘I have automatic food, automatic water and automatic litter but I still worried so I had someone come check on them every day.
‘One day the guy called and said he couldn’t find Ronnie. I told him just to wait and see so he did, but first he looked everywhere.
‘But apparently, the guy had unknowingly opened a door to a closet area with the air conditioner unit when he was looking for her. That connected to the walls of the house apparently. Ma, anyway, he left.
‘He came back the next day, saw her, left again. And that kept happening until Saturday. On Sunday I drove with my girls back home.’
He said when he got home at 11pm he could not find either of the cats.
‘I found Betty in that closet and I noticed how much of that area was unfinished (this is a rental). I kept hearing Ronnie.

‘My daughter found her meowing in that section of the wall in my office. Best I can tell, she’d gone into the rafters through that closet, climbed over the whole house, across the hall, into the walls and gotten lost. ‘
After Scott posted the video, many social media users commented how cats don’t ‘abide by the rules of nature’.
Un utente ha scritto: 'Oh mio Dio, poor kitty! Glad they were alright!’
Un altro ha detto: ‘It would have been awesome if the cat had suddenly appeared from the other side, with a puzzled face, piace: “Why are you crazy people punching holes in my home’s wall?”‘
One more added: ‘Cats do not abide by the laws of nature.’
