Elegance coach reveals seven ‘life-changing’ morning habits high-achieving women swear by – including waking up with an alarm clock and tackling your least favourite task of the day first
An elegance coach has revealed the seven morning habits that will ‘change your life’ and get the day off to a productive start.

In her latest vlog for her School of Affluence webwerf, Anna explained the quick and easy changes people can make to their morning routine to get the day off to the best possible start, including tackling the toughest task on your to-do list first.
1. Pay attention to the quality of your sleep

‘Your morning routine actually starts from the night before,’ Anna explained. ‘It’s all about how you put yourself to sleep.
‘How many hours of sleep did you get in that night? How good a quality of sleep did you get?
‘All of that plays an important role in how you wake up the next day.
‘Because if you don’t get enough sleep, if your sleep quality isn’t good, then you’re not going to wake up refreshed and excited for a new day and also.’
2. Write a to-do list the night before
Anna said she puts together a to-do-list ahead of each day to visualise what needs to be done.
Sy het gese: ‘My biggest and best productivity hack is to actually prepare and write out the next day’s to-do list and then put it in an obvious place so that when you wake up and you walk in, you simply just grab your list and you know exactly what needs to be done today.
‘This is really going to put you on the map for success.’
3. Use an alarm clock instead of your phone

‘Many if us we use our phones to set an alarm but this is when it becomes so tempting to put those multiple alarms that you end up snoozing which is actually bad for you,’ Anna explained.
‘So get a traditional alarm clock instead. That way you can put it in the other end of the room and once it rings, it rings and there is no turning back.’
It’s also important to know exactly why you need to get up at that time. What is it you’re going to jump out of bed to do?
‘It’s really important that you actually have a strong ‘why’ when you wake up in the morning,’ sy het gese.
‘You need to really feel motivated to wake up early. You need to feel motivated to wake up when that alarm rings.
‘So be really clear on why you want to wake up at that time and make that to be your carrot to really pull you and drag you out of bed.’
3. Write a list of affirmations – and always make your bed

Anna explained she implements a gratitude list and an affirmations list into her daily routine.
‘Every morning you should do your law of attraction practices,’ sy het gese.
‘I like to wake up and start my day in this spirit because this really sets the tone for how the rest of the day will be.
‘While you are still in bed actually start doing your gratitude list, your affirmations while you are waking up and while your opening up your eyes.
‘I also recommend that you start making your bed in the morning.’
The expert said that this should be the first step after you get out of bed in the morning, instead of shooting off to whatever you have planned for the day.
This puts you in the right mindset and reminds you that you have already successfully completed a task before the day has properly started.
4. Make the most of your morning willpower to exercise
The elegance coach, pictured on a night out, said that if you don’t have a lot of willpower, you should start the day by exercising so you can’t put it off
Anna said you should ‘think strategically’ when planning your morning routine.
She said there were two options, depending on the type of person you are.
‘Option one, you basically get straight out of bed and immediately to take a shower so that it wakes you up,’ sy het gese.
‘This tip is primarily for those ladies who have kind of a strong discipline and some form of willpower. They need to put their exercise routine a bit later in the day than first thing in the morning.’
Sy gaan voort: ‘Option two is to do your exercise routine first thing in the morning.
‘And this is really suitable for my beginner ladies or ladies who don’t have very strong willpower.’
Anna explained that the morning is the time of the day where our willpower is the strongest.
‘This way there’s a higher chance of having your exercise routine guaranteed and executed rather than if you have left it for later in the day when you actually have time to think about whether you want to train or not.’
5. Time for reflection
Anna also said you should do a to-do list for the day the night before, so that you already known was you need to focus on
The elegance coach also advised to set aside some time for reflection during your morning routine, whether that is meditating, journaling, reading a book or speaking to a loved one.
‘Or perhaps you can even just sit in your own silence and enjoy a cup of coffee as an example to just stay with your own thoughts,’ vervolg sy.
‘The whole point of this time for reflection is really to just practice mindfulness, be present or reflect in your own thoughts and really set your thoughts for the day.’
6. Tick off the toughest task first
When it’s time to get going, make sure you start with the least appealing task on your to-do list.
‘The reason why we want to do those tasks as soon as possible after we have woken up is because we have the strongest willpower then, we don’t have decision fatigue yet, we have the clearest thinking then,’ sy het gese.
She added it was a good way to make sure you spend the rest of the day doing what you want to do.
