CRAIG BROWN: The country is crying out for change... loose change

CRAIG BROWN: The country is crying out for change… loose change, spare change. All major credit cards accepted

My leadership statement:

I want to lead this great country in the right direction.

Right, not wrong.

Forward. Not backward.

Up, not down.

Nothing is off the table. The table is piled high with choices. Hard choices. Tough choices. Choices that affect every hard-working man and woman in our country.

And this country is crying out for someone who is prepared to tackle that table.

Someone to stand up and say, ‘This table is far too cluttered. It’s high time we cleared this table.’

This country is crying out for change. Loose change. Spare change. We accept all major credit cards.

This country is crying out for change. Loose change. Spare change. We accept all major credit cards.

Someone not afraid to pull up their sleeves and get down to the hard work of putting everything back where it belongs.

This country is crying out for change. Loose change. Spare change. We accept all major credit cards.

My qualifications for leadership are simple.

I can plan. I can communicate. I can campaign. I can deliver.

I can deliver plans. I can plan communications. I can communicate leadership. I can lead plans. I can plan deliveries.

Because, yes — it’s all about delivery. Delivering on time. To a location of your choice. If you are going to be out, please indicate if you wish it to be delivered to a neighbour, or through your letterbox, or to a safe place.

So let me tell you a bit about myself.

Before I was born, my mum met my dad.

That is how my story began.

At the time of my birth, I was just a baby.

But I was determined to stand on my own two feet.

I wasn’t able to speak. I couldn’t even walk.

But I never let that put me off.

And that is who I am. Resolute. Hard-working. Someone prepared to stand. And deliver.

Having started out as a baby, I succeeded in becoming a child.

And — yes — that early success continues to be a source of pride.

Within a few years, I had learnt to walk, talk, and even dress myself.

The reason I got into politics was because I wanted everyone to have that opportunity.

Opportunity for the man.

I’ll read that again.

Opportunity for the many.

Family is everything to me. And that is why I went into politics. To work night and day at Westminster.

Nothing is off the menu.

And that is why I plan to take a long, hard look at that menu.

Family is everything to me. And that is why I went into politics. To work night and day at Westminster.

Family is everything to me. And that is why I went into politics. To work night and day at Westminster.

And to keep looking long and hard until the waiter appears.

And then I will say to that waiter, as I say to you today, loud and clear: ‘Decisions, decisions…’

And ask for a little bit more time to see what is on offer.

Why?

Because someone has to get a grip and make a right decision.

Not a wrong decision. A right decision.

In other words — a decision that is right.

I want everything on the table. A starter. And a main course. Followed by a dessert.

In that order.

Loyalty. Faith. Trust. Dedication. Commitment. These are my core values.

And these are the reasons I stuck by our last Prime Minister through thick and thin.

Right up until my integrity told me I could support him no more.

Throughout his leadership, I was convinced he had a great future.

But the time has now come when we have to put that great future behind us.

We need to drive change. And change driver.

As Prime Minister, I will hit the ground ruining. Correction: running. Because I know that our best lays die ahead.

As Prime Minister, I will hit the ground ruining. Correction: running. Because I know that our best lays die ahead.

We face a great challenge. What is that challenge? The challenge is this. The challenge is our challenge. And it is up to each of us to meet that challenge. And to challenge that challenge.

And to say to that challenge: yes, you are a challenge. And that’s a challenge. But it’s a challenge worth making.

We need a return to clear policies.

And what are they?

Let me spell them out.

They are policies.

And they are clear.

Teamwork. Working with a team. To deliver a change of approach. Which requires a plan. But we need more than just a plan. We need teamwork to deliver it. And that takes a change of approach.

As Prime Minister, I will hit the ground ruining. Correction: running.

Because I know that our best lays die ahead. Correction: our best lies are a day ahead.
