Ronaldo and the former sales assistant revealed that their son had died at birth on April 18, but their daughter survived.

It comes after the Manchester United forward posted a heartwarming image of himself holding his newborn daughter on Saturday.

He shared a black and white image of himself cradling the baby, accompanied with the caption ‘Forever Love’ alongside a love heart emoji on Instagram.

The adorable picture, which sees the tot donning a knitted hat, was met with a plethora of supportive messages, with several of Ronaldo’s followers replying with red love hearts.

Announcing his and Georgina’s heartbreaking loss earlier this month, Cristiano penned: “È con la nostra più profonda tristezza che dobbiamo annunciare che il nostro bambino è morto. È il dolore più grande che ogni genitore possa provare.

The footballer missed Man United’s mid-week match against Liverpool which saw fans at Anfield holding a minute’s applause for Ronaldo and his family and singing ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone.’

Following the devastating stillbirth, the couple and their other children returned home with their newborn daughter last Thursday, days after the footballer confirmed his partner had lost the child’s twin brother.

The striker shared a social media update shortly after their baby girl made the journey back from hospital following her birth.

Posting a photo for his 430million followers, Ronaldo cradled his daughter while accompanied by Spanish partner Georgina and their four children – three of which the footballer fathered through surrogates.

And earlier this week, Georgina’s close friend Ivan Garcia said he is hoping to see her smile again very soon.

Georgina was reportedly spotted visiting the hospital during her visit to the Spanish capital in January with Cristiano, when they stayed in a suite in the five-star Rosewood Villa Magna Hotel after a romantic meal together.

She gave birth in a VIP suite in the prestigious hospital, a favourite of the rich and famous, to their daughter Alana Martina on November 12, 2017.

The suite, one of four at the clinic with a bedroom and living room area, due bagni, wifi, a television and safe, was in a restricted area with direct access to an underground garage.

Tamara Degenhardt, named as the doctor who took charge of Georgina’s last birth, is still believed to be at the hospital where she heads up its Prenatal Diagnosis Unit.
