The suspect managed to flee and police launched a manhunt for him as he tried to escape though neighbouring gardens.

A police drone was launched and operators used thermal imaging technology to pin-point the 30-year-old man’s exact location.

Officers are seen being directed to where the man was hiding before he was arrested on suspicion of making threats to kill, threatening behaviour and possessing Class A drugs.

PC Paul Davis, of West Midlands Police’s drone team, said: ‘We had a drone team in the area anyway so we were able to get it to the address within minutes.

‘We were then able to beam back live images from the property and let officers on the ground know when the suspect fled out the back of house.

‘The drone was able to track him over gardens and then eventually to Ronald Road where he was arrested.

‘If the drones hadn’t been available he may have been able to have slip away, but the cameras can give us great coverage over a large area and the thermal imaging meant there was nowhere to hide.’
