EDEN VERTROULIK: Vreugde vir prins Philip se vertroueling gravin Mountbatten van Birma terwyl haar seun Nicholas Knatchbull 'n babaseuntjie met sy 'presterende meermin verwelkom nie’ vrou
Heartbroken by the death of her confidant Prins Philip, with whom she spent much time during his final years, Countess Mountbatten of Burma has received some joyful news: haar seun, Nicholas Knatchbull, has become a father.
And his son is a boy, so the Earl Mountbatten title has been guaranteed for another generation.
I can reveal that Knatchbull, 41, has had a son with his wife, Ambre Pouzet, 38, who was once a ‘merlesque’ artiste, of presterende meermin, onder die van Saint-Clare. They have named their boy Alexander.

‘Nick’s whole family is delighted,’ one of his friends tells me. ‘Nick’s had a difficult life, so hopefully fatherhood will be the making of him.’
The news will please Knatchbull’s godfather, Prins Charles, en die koningin, who invited the Countess, Penelope, to Philip’s funeral — the only friend present at the service held during pandemic restrictions.
Knatchbull — whose father, the Earl, 74, is in poor health — quietly married Ambre last May after a two-and-a-half-year engagement. The wedding was held at his family’s 60-room stately home, Broadlands, where the Queen and Prince Philip spent their honeymoon.
The wedding certificate gave Knatchbull’s occupation as ‘music producer and gardener’ and Ambre’s as ‘behavioural therapist’.

He does not use his courtesy title, Lord Brabourne.
Knatchbull, drie keer tevore verloof, beskryf homself en Ambre as die 'dinamiese duo'. French by birth, her work as a mermaid included giving performances which involved donning a custom-made Swarovski crystal-encrusted mermaid tail for underwater shows and photoshoots.
’n Woordvoerder vertel my: ‘The Earl and Countess would not like to comment on what is a family matter.’
Hollly Willoughby has grumbled her West London neighbours over the years with various planning applications
Perky presenter Holly Willoughby is a TV favourite, but she appears to be less popular among her West London neighbours, some of whom have grumbled about her various planning applications over the years.
Nou, they might soon be on the warpath again, as I hear Holly, 41, en haar man, Dan Baldwin, 47, are due to begin major renovations of their six-bedroom property, which they bought for £2.8 million in 2011.
Planners have given the couple the go-ahead for a first-floor extension on the home, which lies within a leafy conservation area.
Let’s hope Holly can charm the locals.

Tonight Sir Paul McCartney will become the oldest artist to be the headline act at Glastonbury, at the grand old age of 80, but the festival does feature a few youngsters, ook.
I can reveal that the daughter of Net-a-Porter founder Dame Natalie Massenet will perform tomorrow — and she’s 64 years younger than the former Beatle.
‘We will be introducing the incredible talent of singer-songwriter Ava Massenet, who will entrance us with her lilting voice and guitar,’ gushes Joe Rush, organiser of the Burning Lotus corner of Worthy Farm, where she will play.

Kim Kardashian, op die foto, was allowed to wear one of Marilyn Monroe’s most famous dresses to the Met Gala
David Emanuel, who with his then-wife Elizabeth created Princess Diana’s bridal gown, is dismayed that Kim Kardashian, op die foto, was allowed to wear one of Marilyn Monroe’s most famous dresses to the Met Gala.
Reality television star Kim, 41, was lent the gown that Monroe wore to sing Happy Birthday to President John F. Kennedy in 1962 to the fashion world’s New York jamboree last month.
‘That was dreadful,’ Emanuel, 69, tells me at the launch of photographer John Swannell’s new exhibition at Clarendon Fine Art in Mayfair. ‘She is too big. It is one of those iconic dresses and worn by an iconic actress. And it was in a museum, so why give it out? It was a shame.
‘You can’t compete against Marilyn Monroe. Had you got the dress and done a DNA test it would be Marilyn, now you have her [Kardashian].’
Stanbury’s surrogate baby plan
Socialite Caroline Stanbury married Spanish former footballer Sergio Carrallo only last November, but she says her children are worried that he’ll leave them if she doesn’t have his baby.
‘The biggest worry for my kids is if I didn’t have one, would Sergio leave our family?’ muses the 46-year-old friend of Prince Andrew. ‘Sergio has made it abundantly clear [vertrek] isn’t an option for him.

'Hy's 27 and very young, so this could change, but I’m very matter-of-fact about these things. Nothing has to be for ever.’
The Ladies Of London star, who has three children with Turkish first husband Cem Habib and has undergone two rounds of IVF with Carrallo, suggests they may consider a surrogate baby.
‘It will happen in one shape or form or another — whether it’s me or if someone else carries it.’
- As Jerry Hall splits up with Rupert Murdoch, media lawyer Mark Stephens says he was the first to learn that her 1990 Bali beach ‘marriage’ to Sir Mick Jagger lacked legal validity. ‘I was having dinner with Mick and Michael Hutchence,’ he claims. ‘Mick said it was a “fake marriage”: they hadn’t done the Hindu chicken sacrifice required in the ceremony and the civil papers hadn’t been lodged afterwards.’ Sir Mick was trying to save the INXS rocker from an expensive divorce. ‘Hutchence was with Paula Yates and Mick advised him to go to Bali and go through the same ceremony.’
(Baie) moderne maniere
Princess Diana’s bridesmaid India Hicks is used to being invited to the most fashionable parties. A member of her family was, egter, shocked to discover she’d been given third-class treatment by a host.
‘A cousin of mine received one of those lovely cream envelopes … inviting her to a glamorous, black-tie event,’ India, 54, sê. ‘“How exciting”, she thought to herself, leaving it on the kitchen table. That evening one of her children picked it up and read it.
‘ “Mum?" hy het gesê, “Why does it say C-list by your name?” They laughed and laughed together. Some hopeless person in an office somewhere had clearly forgotten to rub out those ridiculous words.’
- Born at Windsor Castle, and with the Queen as a cousin, Lady Elizabeth Anson knew all there was to know about protocol. But it was her playful spirit which lives on, meer as 18 months after her death aged 79, as the Rev Canon Paul Wright, Sub-Dean of Her Majesty’s Chapels Royal, recalled this week at her memorial service. ‘In my 30 years of being a padre,’ Wright reflected, ‘she is the only person who’s ever greeted me with the words: “Get on the bed, liefling, and give me a cuddle”.’
