‘I’m sure we can blur that out, 正しい?’ Eli Manning unexpectedly gives the double bird during live TV interview while recounting story about a naughty young Philly Eagles fan
Eli Manning gave the double middle finger to TV viewers while recounting a story about a Philadelphia Eagles fan back in his playing days – mistakenly believing that the offensive gesture could be blurred out during the live interview.
The incident happened on Monday Night’s ‘ManningCast’ on ESPN2 when Eli got carried away while recounting a story of a nine-year-old welcoming him to Philadelphia with a double middle finger.
‘You go to Philly, you’re getting the double bird from a nine-year-old,’ Eli Manning said during the broadcast of the Dallas Cowboys’ win over the Philadelphia Eagle, while holding up his middle finger on both hands.
‘I would give the bird – I don’t know, can we do that? I’m sure we can blur that out, 正しい?’
Eli then went on to entertain the audience by showing them what the double bird looks like, raising his two middle fingers at the TV screen, much to the horror of the FCC and ESPN’s producers.

A commercial break later, Eli offered to apologize and smirkingly said he assumed ESPN2 would have blurred out his one finger salute.
‘Earlier I gave the double bird, 申し訳ありません, I guess that’s frowned upon,’ Manning said on ESPN2′s Monday Night Football ‘ManningCast.’
‘That’s what a nine-year-old did to me, I thought I could do it back.’
Most fans and fellow sports professionals on Twitter went into meltdown after the incident, with sports writer Roger Sherman branding Eli a ‘man child’ after the stunt.
‘At this point I’m like 80 percent sure that Eli currently lives at home with his parents,’ 彼はツイートした.
Another sportsfan asked on Twitter if Eli Manning ‘just gave America the middle finger?’ while someone else said that his double middle finger is ‘about to be [インクルード] meme of the decade.’
Other users preferred to focus on the fact that Eli’s gesture wasn’t censured, one tweeting: ‘Eli Manning just held up the double middle finger to the camera and they didn’t blur,’ including a laughing emoji.
Eli, whose brother is Peyton Manning, has always been known to be the outspoken sibling.
It remains unknown if Eli will face any reprimands for his gesture, either by ESPN or the FCC.
The ManningCast is becoming increasingly popular among not just NFL fans, but also sports fans, who some will say is more entertaining than the product on the field.
This week’s show featured LeBron James and Nick Saban prior to Eli’s brief moment of glory.
After the Cowboy’s blowout 41-21 win over the Eagles, the Manning brothers told their viewers that their weekly chucklefests are taking a three-week hiatus until Week 7 of the NFL season.
