The Vorderman effect! Presenter, 61, leads the charge of female TV stars who have ditched their former frumpy looks and ‘refuse to dress modestly in midlife’, stylist reveals
Carol Volderman is inspiring her fellow female TV stars to ditch their frumpy looks for a sexy midlife makeover, a stylist has revealed.
On Beat The Chasers’ celebrity special, which aired last night, the TV presenter, 61, donned a red lace midi dress that clung to her curves, the latest in a parade of ultra-figure hugging outfits, which she shows off on Instagram -along with daring bikini snaps.
TV and celebrity fashion expert Miranda Holder told FEMAIL that the former Countdown star is setting a trend for other women her age, including Carol Kirkwood, 59, Davina McCall, 54, and Lorraine Kelly, 62.
She said: ‘Rules of dressing appropriately for your age and covering up or dressing modestly once you are over 50 have all been thrown out the window by Carol and she is a shining example of living life to the full for celebrities of a similar age and young women alike.’

TV and celebrity fashion expert Miranda Holder told FEMAIL other celebrities were following in Carol’s footsteps, including Carol Kirkwood, 59, Davina McCall, 54, and Lorraine Kelly, 62 (pictured left, Lorraine in 1993, and right, last year)
Other stars of a similar age including Lorraine, Kirkwood and Davina have all ditched their frumpier looks for a more ‘stylish’ version of themselves in recent years.
Miranda suggested the style changes had been inspired by Carol, adding that the former Countdown star was ‘clearly in the driving seat’ of her physical transformation.
She explained: ‘She has become more confident in who she is as a woman, and quite rightly wants to celebrate her amazing figure and live life to the full.
‘It’s not at all surprising that other celebs are following in her footsteps.
The fashion expert said Carol had encouraged other celebrities to ‘throw out the window’ the rules of ‘dressing appropriately for your age and covering up or dressing modestly once you are over 50’ (pictured left, Davina McCall in 2003 and, right, last year)
‘Carol has shown us that life really is too short and each day is a gift and should be celebrated.
‘She is a wonderful example of why you shouldn’t save your best clothes for special occasions but should wear them every day just to feel better and attract better things to you.
‘Be the energy you want to attract is a well-known phrase and Carol embodies it. The world needs more people blazing the way like she is.’
Meanwhile she added: ‘Carol positively glows these days as we catch glimpses of her working or at events looking every inch the polished celebrity.
Other stars to have adopted a more glamorous style in recent years includes BBC weatherwoman Carol Kirkwood (left and right)
‘But it’s not just about the clothes she wears or indeed her size, it’s also about her apparent transformation within and how she clearly feels better and better in her own skin – the inside mirrors the outside, which is why she looks so incredible.’
She continued: ‘We are used to seeing people in the spotlight who have clearly been working with a glam squad and have transformed their appearance from drab to drop dead gorgeous.
‘Although we can appreciate the artistry of what is being presented before us, the ’sell’ sometimes falls a little short, it still feels superficial, as we can all tell intuitively that the change is only skin deep.
‘In contrast to the showbiz beauty parade, Carol’s journey has been both authentic and compelling.’
The fashion expert continued: ‘Not only does she look absolutely incredible in her body con dresses, ‘come to bed’ makeup and sky rocket heels, we can see clearly that she feels absolutely incredible too, and this effect is nothing short of magnetic.
Meanwhile Loose Women star Coleen Nolan has also transformed her style in recent years for a more ‘elevated’ look (pictured left, and right)
‘We will never know which came first – the image or the self-esteem – but what we do know is that elevating your wardrobe, dressing for the life you want, and switching up your appearance on the outside to make you feel good on the inside are all tried and tested forms of manifesting.
‘Taking steps towards the life of your dreams is a hot topic in January and Carol provides us with a masterclass in how to do it.
‘If you change the way you look, you will change the way you view the world and crucially how the world sees you which creates a ripple effect throughout your life.
‘In terms of energetic frequency, you will automatically raise your internal frequency of how you feel to match your external frequency of how you look.

Sizzling: Carol Vorderman ramped up the heat as she showcased her hourglass figure in a Christmas Day Instagram post
Incredible: Carol added a chunky patent waist belt with an oversized gold buckle to further accentuate her tiny waist
‘Like attracts like – it’s law of attraction and quantum physics for the sceptics too!’
Meanwhile celebrity stylist Rochelle White said: ‘I feel that Carole Vorderman has just grown into her look and herself. Over the years her looks and style have changed and evolved, and I feel she could have just been exploring what she likes and feels comfortable with.
‘Like anything there has been a shift in fashion and aging within the media and culture.
‘Older ladies want to still be on par with the younger woman, but in their own way and always trying to look young/younger.
‘They are dressing for them and embracing who they are.’
The stylist suggested the changes could be boosting Carol’s social media profile, saying: ‘Seeing the traction that she has been getting, could have inspired others to do the same.
‘Davina McCall has become (in a way) a fitness influencer. With her trend sports range and always mixing up her workouts, she appeals to a lot more markets/audiences. It’s a good move as it helps to keep her more relatable and relevant.’
Carol regularly wins praise from her Instagram followers for her selection of trendy outfits, with the 61-year-old showcasing her figure in mini dresses, leather trousers and slim-fitting tops.
Carol appeared on the ITV celebrity special last night, with snaps showing the star being quizzed to win money for charity, with her peachy derriere on on display in her outfit.
She was joined by host Bradley Walsh, who looked typically dashing in a blue suit with a colourful pocket square, as he read out the questions.
Carol was joined by a number of other stars, including Joel Dommett, Adrian Chiles, Samia Longchambon and Simon Weston in the upcoming celebrity specials.
