The secret to great skin: Facialist shares the EXACT three-step technique she uses on celebrities

‘We tend to solely place emphasis on our skincare and on the products and steps, while neglecting the application technique,’ Melanie posted on Instagram.
‘Consider facial massage a fundamental component of your skincare routine. It’s every bit as pleasant as it sounds.’
The facialist explained that there are many benefits to facial massage, and if you do it daily, you will be encouraging circulation throughout the lymphatic system, stimulating your blood flow, boosting collagen and detoxifying and improving your overall skin texture.
‘Facial massage works to brighten and firm the skin, while draining and moving any trapped fluid, puffiness and toxins that might be lurking under the surface,’ Melanie said.
‘Essentially, the overall purpose of a facial massage is to give your skin an extra boost while amplifying the potency and efficacy of your products.’

Melanie shared the three-step technique (pictured) she uses on clients
With the fingers folded, massage with deep circular movements, working from the centre of the face outwards.
Step one: Start under the jaw line from the centre outwards.
Step two: Work from the jawline upwards to the cheekbones.
Step three: Finish the movement on the forehead, from the middle towards the temples.
Repeat all of these movement three times.

When it comes to the technique she swears by, Melanie said you need to fold your fingers over one another and ‘massage with deep circular movements, working from the centre of the face outwards’.
‘The first step is to start under the jaw line from the centre outwards with your fingers,’ she said.
‘Then, work from the jawline upwards to the cheekbones. Thirdly, finish the movement on the forehead, from the middle towards the temples.’
Repeat every single movement three times for maximum benefits.
‘Remember, facial massage doesn’t need to be an isolated practice,’ Melanie added.
‘You can weave it into your daily routine by way of skincare application. Your serums, facial oils and moisturisers can all be applied with massage.’

The three ‘skin gestures’ that will improve the efficacy of products
STEP ONE: THE LIFTING GESTURE
Apply a pea-sized amount onto the eye contour. Smooth from the inner corner outwards, below the eye and then on the eyelid. Place the middle and index fingers at the head of the brow on one eye just above the eye socket. Using gliding movements, sweep upwards from the eye socket, up the brow. Repeat this movement twice.
STEP TWO: THE SMOOTHING GESTURE
Make long gliding strokes on the outer corner of the eye, towards the temple. Repeat this movement twice.
STEP THREE: THE ANTI DARK CIRCLE GESTURE
Make long gliding strokes along the lower eyelids by starting at the outer third corner of the eye working in. Each time passing on the same area getting closer to the inner corner of the eye. Repeat this movement twice.
