Thursday’s celebration recognised the winners of various championships organised by the FIA, while acknowledging lesser known drivers for their contribution to motor sport.

And Geri was sure to steal the show as she oozed old school glamour in her vintage-style look while accompanying her husband to the bash.

The singer teamed her form-fitting halterneck gown with silver platform heels, while adding a touch of bling with a delicate gold and diamond necklace and matching earrings.

Geri’s auburn locks were swept to the side and styled in glamorous curls, while she added a pop of colour to her ensemble with a sweep of pillar box red lipstick.

This comes as Geri, who looked chic in all-white – beamed with excitement and spoke of her ‘pride’ after her husband’s history-making success, branding him ‘the best team principal’.

While being interviewed by Sky Sports, when asked for her reaction, Geri gushed: ‘I’m just really proud of him – I’m proud of the whole team, and Max.

‘It’s testimony to what a great team they are, great strategy. Max was brilliant. Checo [Sergio Perez] was amazing.

‘And of course they’ve got the best team principal – I have to say!’

Lewis Hamilton was denied an eighth World Championship after being overtaken by rival Max Verstappen on the final lap of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

The British driver led the entire race and was in total control after overtaking the Red Bull driver at the first corner of the race, but a controversial safety car gave the Dutchman the opportunity to snatch the title away.

Hamilton appeared to be cruising to an eighth championship, but Williams driver Nicholas Latifi crashed into the wall duelling with Haas’ Mick Schumacher with just five laps remaining.

A virtual safety car was initially called and Verstappen and Red Bull used the opportunity to pit and fit fresh soft tyres, while Hamilton had no choice but to keep track position and stay out on his deteriorating hard tyres.

However, a full safety car was subsequently called by Race Control, bunching up the field and all but wiping out Hamilton’s lead.

In controversial circumstances, the safety car left the track with just a single lap remaining, leading to Hamilton and Verstappen fighting for the title over just one trip round the circuit.

The Dutchman overtook Hamilton at turn five and, despite the Brit’s best efforts, held on to win his first World Championship.
