A lot of items belonging to Happy Days star Henry Winkler sold Wednesday through the auction house Bonhams.

Henry Winkler, 76, auctioned off a number of props and recognizable costumes he wore during his six-decade acting career, which began back in the early 1970s, including some he when he portrayed the iconic Happy Days character, Arthur Fonzarelli, otherwise known as ‘The Fonzand ‘Fonzie.

Secondo Bonhams, the highest bids included $231,562 per un 1949 Triumph Trophy 500 motociclo, well over its projected take of $80,000-$120,000.

Another big item was a full Fonzie outfit worn on the show, consisting of a brown leather jacket, two white T-shirts, a pair of blue jeans and black leather biker boots. The ensemble sold for $75,312, secondo Bonhams.

In a sign of the significance of Happy Days and Fonzie, one of the leather jackets has been on display at the Smithsonian National Museum Of American History in Washington, D.C.

Happy Days, which gave viewers a vision of life in the 1950s and early 1960s, premiered back in January 1974, and ended wowing audiences to go on do 255 half-hour episodes during its 11 season run, ending in 1984.

Other Happy Days-worn items that went for impressive sums included mechanic overalls that sold for $14,025; a button-up Army shirt for $2,040; a softball uniform that sold for $1,275; cowboy boots that went for $1,083.

A pair of belt buckles emblazoned with the Fonzie image and signature sold for $1,020.

Aside from Happy Days, Winkler also sold items from other projects he worked on such as Scream, Macgyver, Night Shift and The Waterboy.

Winkler opened up about putting up the items on the block and the sentimentality associated with them.

‘I never will say goodbye because it is always in my heart and always in my mind. It was the show that threw me out into the world and I will always be grateful,’ Winkler told KABC all'inizio di questo mese.

‘Letting a physical thing go doesn’t, in any way, diminish the enormity of the experience.
