The perfect pantry: Home organisation expert transforms Below Deck star’s cupboard in stunning one-day makeover
A decluttering and organisation expert has shared her incredible pantry makeover, complete with wire shelving, plastic tubs and air tight storage containers, for her celebrity client.
Anita Birges, owner of Mise en Place – Professional Organising, took to Instagram on Saturday to showcase her complete kitchen overhaul for Below Deck’s Hannah Ferrier using Elfa Australia’s unique shelves and Howard Storage solutions.
‘We had been chatting through our Instagram DMs and one of her followers introduced us. Hannah moved into her new house about four weeks ago so it was time to revamp her pantry,’ Ms Birges told Daily Mail Australia.

The result is more room for Hannah to store food and water so she doesn’t have to fill up other kitchen cupboards with tins
‘The house has great bones but old storage. You couldn’t move in the pantry and nothing was adjustable. Things that worked in the Seventies, Eighties and Nineties just don’t accommodate the needs of a family anymore.’
Hannah, who has a one-year-old daughter, was looking for a makeover that allowed her to have all of her food, water and vitamins in one place, without having to fill smaller drawers in the kitchen with tins and cans.
‘The cupboards just needed sprucing up. I used the wire shelving because it’s really easy to clean and the brackets behind it mean I can chop and change the height however I want to meet her needs,’ Ms Birges said.
‘I made it bespoke so I can make it work in that space. Ook, if she ever moves to a new house, she can take these shelves with her.
‘I went and measured up the week before and then decided on the organising solutions I needed to source. It was all installed in a day.
‘The old pantry only made use of the back wall and Hannah had food in almost every cupboard in the house, including the study, so I’ve used plenty of containers to ensure everything is in one place.’

The corner layout of the pantry prompted Ms Birges to use lazy susan’s to showcase some of Hannah’s staples in the pantry, all while using up the dead space that sits next to the wire shelving.
‘I ask all my clients what type of cook they are, what’s important to them and make sure the kitchen works organically with what they need to have to hand,’ Ms Birges said.
On Saturday Ms Birges shared a before and after photo of Hannah’s pantry on Instagram, which attracted a ‘thank you’ in the comments from the reality TV star.
‘You know I love a great pantry makeover, each one is special in its own way, however some are particularly memorable,’ the photo caption read.
‘I’ve been in the wings waiting for Hannah and her gorgeous family to purchase their first home so I could get stuck into their pantry.

‘When I first saw what I was up against, an understair, non-adjustable shelving disaster, I knew I had to put my thinking cap on and get down to business.’
Hannah replied: ‘Thank you so much lovely. You are so talented! I promise to keep it in perfect condition!’
For those wanting to achieve a pantry just like Hannah’s, Ms Birges recommends waiting until you’ve lived in your new home for at least a month.
This gives the homeowner time to assess what they actually use and where they need to have it in order to get the most use out of a product.
