Hunt for double killer as he absconds from prison for a SECOND time as parents of his 19-year-old victim slam ‘cushyjail conditions

    After fleeing from his Category D institution on Wednesday, the parents of his former lover have hit out at the justice system and the ‘cushyprison conditions the killer has enjoyed.

    Trevor Fairhurst said: ‘Apparently he had applied to the governor to go on escorted day release and it would then be up to the governor as to whether he would be granted a temporary licence.

    ‘But then he did a runner before he got an answer.

    It later emerged he had pulled up a duvet next to her and fell asleep before calling medics the following morning and claimed to have just found her.

    The pair first met when Carly wrote to Pilkington while he was in prison for beating a friend to death outside a pub in 2001.
