EXCLUSIVE: Even dad has been left in the dark! JLo’s father says he had ‘no idea’ singer was having relationship troubles with Alex Rodriguez after the couple revealed they’re fighting to stay together
Jennifer Lopez‘s relationship troubles with fiancé Alex Rodriguez have even caught her father by surprise, as he revealed he was clueless about the pair’s reported ‘split.’
The Hollywood power couple left fans shocked on Friday after it was announced they had reportedly called off their engagement after almost four years together.
Lopez and Rodriguez, who became engaged in 2019, later addressed the ‘inaccurate’ reports in a statement, saying they were ‘working through some things’, but did not confirm or deny whether they had ended their relationship.
But J.Lo’s father David Lopez appeared to be unaware of the news when he was asked about the break up at his home on the outskirts of Los Angeles.

Approached for his thoughts after the reports emerged, the 79-year-old retired computer technician told DailyMail.com: ‘I don’t know what you’re talking about. I haven’t heard anything.
‘I didn’t know. If I did, I would tell you “no comment”, but I had no idea.’
J.Lo, 51, has spoken previously about the close relationship she shares with Puerto Rican-born David.
She said in a 2016 interview with the Today show’s Hoda Kotb: ‘I feel like he’s always been proud, since I was like running track when I was nine or ten years old.
‘He was like, “My daughter runs track!” … It just didn’t matter to him. He was just proud of me.
‘He really thinks about what I go through,’ she added.
‘He said to me one time, he goes: “I just want you to know of all the people in the world, there’s one person who just loves you and doesn’t want anything from you. You have that in your life.”‘

Last year, the Waiting For Tonight singer also spoke about her disappointment at her and A-Rod’s failed bid to buy her dad’s favorite baseball team, the New York Mets.
‘We worked so hard the past 6 months with the dream of becoming the first minority couple and the first woman owner to buy her father’s favorite Major League Baseball team with her own hard earned money,’ she said on Twitter at the time.
The singer also opened up about her sadness at not being able to see David and former school worker mom Guadalupe Rodriguez because of the coronavirus pandemic.
‘It became the number one thing that we, in a way, took for granted for so long,’ She told People magazine in January.
‘Not being able to see my mom and dad as much as we wanted, we didn’t spend the holidays together.’

And it appears the pop star’s father has been left in the dark about her relationship problems.
J.Lo and baseball legend A-Rod, 45, got engaged in March 2019 in the Bahamas after dating for two years.
The couple postponed their wedding twice last year, blaming it on the COVID-19 pandemic.
They were last seen on February 27 in the Dominican Republic where J.Lo is currently shooting her new film.
Rodriguez however has since returned to Miami. He appeared to brush off reports of their alleged split Friday as he shared a picture of himself alone on a yacht, which he captioned: ‘Don’t mind me, just taking a sail-fie… What are your plans for the weekend?’
The pair’s breakup was widely reported by multiple news outlets, including Page Six and CNN which cited close sources saying the relationship had been on the rocks for some time.
J.Lo, 51, has spoken previously about the close relationship she shares with Puerto Rican-born David. The singer (pictured with her parents, David and Guadalupe, sister Lynda, and her kids in 2013) recently expressed her sadness over not being able to see her family due to the pandemic
Reports also claimed Rodriguez’s alleged relationship with Southern Charm star Madison LeCroy, 30, was the reason behind the break up.
Both Rodriguez and Lopez responded to the reports the following day saying: ‘All the reports are inaccurate. We are working through some things.’
The former MLB legend added to the confusion Saturday when he denied that he was back on the market.
The athlete was seen arriving at the gym in Miami where he was approached by paparazzi who asked if he was single again.
In a video of the encounter, Rodriguez chuckled at the question and shook his finger, before replying: ‘No, I’m not.’
