    Long-supported by the Sussexes, the initiative was set up to provide support and hot meals for bereaved families following the Grenfell blaze, which killed 72 people on June 14, 2017.

    Calling from her Kalifornië herehuis, which she shares with her daughter, son Archie, twee, en haar man Prins Harry, Meghan said she was ‘most proud’ of the women for continuing ‘to take care of everyone in the community’.

    Meghan, who has repeatedly checked in with the community endeavour, developed a close relationship with the Hubb community kitchen after the release of her 2018 charity cookbook Together, which marked her first solo venture as a royal.

    The people behind the initiative had met for a celebratory lunch at the Al-Manaar centre in north Kensington.

    In her call, Het Meghan gesê: ‘We founded Hubb together and I think what I’m most proud of is what you’ve all been able to do, not just what we created to meet an immediate need right after the fire.

    One of the Hubb volunteers, Chérine Mallah, told the publication that it was ‘lovely’ for Meghan to praise their work and that they were ‘really happy’ to get the call from her.

    ‘It is massive for us. The next days of our lives are just the same but we know that someone as famous as Meghan is backing us. It is really lovely,’ said Chérine.

    In April 2020, Meghan took part in a call with several members of the group to discuss how their work can be adapted during the lockdowns.

    The kitchen was set up by Grenfell survivors at Al Manaar mosque following the blaze at the 24-storey flat, which turned into the most deadly domestic fire since the Second World War.

    The video was shared on the Brightly Storytime channel, which is run by Penguin Random House, the publishing house which published The Bench and with which Prince Harry also has a book deal.
