The calf reportedly came into contact with an electric wire and died from electrocution.

Forest and Wildlife officials came to investigate the scene and found three other elephants guarding the dead elephant.

The officials found a live wire connected to a borewell, which they believe the elephant came into contact with – and possibly chewed.

An autopsy is underway, while a probe has been launched to investigate the matter fully.
