Terrifying moment surfer sees a SHARK right behind him off of Puerto Rico and desperately paddles back to the beach
This is the terrifying moment a panicked surfer saw a shark thrashing around right behind him before desperately paddling back to the beach in Puerto Rico.
Video footage captured at Middles Beach yesterday showed the predator being thrown around by the rough waters just yards from Rolando Montes.

A second surfer could also be seen in the footage, as they lay on their front on their surfboard, as if directing their friend away from the animal.
Jorge Benitez filmed the shocking encounter yesterday while visiting Middles Beach with his friend – who was the man attempting to flee from the shark.
Describing the close call, Benitez said that shark sightings in the area are not common at all, which explains his reaction in recording the incident.
The shark was seen being thrown around by the waves, before its top fin menacingly jutted out of the water behind Montes as he tried to reach safety
Benitez said: ‘This is the first shark I see. Although it’s known they are around the areas, but apparently they have enough food so we barely have incidents if any.’
Shark attacks in the waters around Puerto Rico are extremely rare, with reports suggesting the last known incident took place in 2011 – and was non-fatal.
