‘A few of us made the assumption, 옳고 그름, that we thought … bots [must have been used] to do this because the way the awards worked was you were actively told to go on your network and get people to vote for you.

Mrs Isbilen, 77, worked for the company in cosmetics production and was later on the board.

She married her husband Ilhan Isbilen in 1996. He has been close friends since childhood with Fethullah Gülen, a US-based Muslim preacher whose movement, 그녀는 말한다, ‘advocates progressive Islam and socially-conscious politics’.

Mrs Isbilen says between 2002 과 2013 the ruling Justice and Development Party of Turkey (AKP), led by president Recep Tayyip Erdogan, was strategically allied with the Gulen movement.

But relations deteriorated, and since 2016 the AKP has proscribed the Gulen movement as a terrorist organisation.

Mr Isbilen was an AKP member of parliament but resigned in 2014.

그의 아내는 말했다: ‘Following a political investigation and prosecution, my husband was imprisoned in December 2015 for his affiliation with the Gülen movement.

‘Following my husband’s arrest, I became more concerned about my own well-being and assets. I was worried that I might be prosecuted or have my assets seized.

It also became ‘increasingly difficult and unpleasantfor her to have dealings with the Evyap Group as ‘other members of my family disapproved of my husband’s and my political beliefsso she decided to sell her Evyap shares in 2015.
