    In the early 1400’s Welsh independence leader Owain Glyndŵr and his soldiers from France and Brittany captured Kidwelly town and unsuccessfully attempted to take the castle.

    The countryside surrounding the castle and the property is said to be haunted by the headless ghost of Gwenllian ferch Gruffydd.

    Gruffydd was beheaded in 1136 and was the wife of Welsh prince Gruffydd ap Rhys.
