Two parents have appeared in court charged with murdering their 10-month old son on Kersfees Day last year.
Shannon Marsden, 21, and her partner Stephen Boden, 29, appeared at Derby Crown Court via video link where they are jointly accused of the murder of their son Finley on December 25, 2020 at an address in Old Whittington, Chesterfield.
Derbyshire police last week said that paramedics were called to a house in the early hours of Christmas Day last year following reports that a ten-month-old boy was unresponsive.
Finley Boden was taken to hospital but was sadly pronounced dead, the force said in a statement.
Marsden, who is at HMP Foston Hall, and Boden, at HMP Nottingham, spoke only to confirm their names and no details of the alleged killing were revealed to the court.

Boden, of Barrow Hill, Chesterfield, and Marsden, van geen vaste adres nie, have also both been charged with assault, neglect or abandonment of their son between November 17 and Christmas Day last year.
And the couple have also both jointly been charged with possession with intent to supply cannabis and supplying cannabis between October 16, 2020 en Februarie 13 van hierdie jaar.
They were not asked to enter any pleas and Judge Nirmal Shant QC, Honorary Recorder of Derby, remanded both defendants into custody.
The pair will next appear at Derby Crown Court on February 4, 2022, with Judge Shant saying this could be over a link rather than in person.
Mary Prior QC had appeared for the prosecution, while Emma Coverly represented Marsden, and Jessica Strange represented Boden.
Neither defence barrister applied for bail for their clients, but the hearing was told that may happen at the next court appearance in the new year.
Marsden, wearing a grey tracksuit, clutched her knees close to her chest for the short hearing. Boden also wore a grey sweatshirt for the court appearance.
