    Emergency services were called to Cantley near Great Yarmouth on the famous waterways after reports that a man had run aground at 1am.

    The man then managed to sail off in his 10mph cruiser, with police giving chase.

    Officers were unable to stop the boat, but successfully climbed on board.

    Two officers were injured in the incident. One had a head wound and the other received cuts to his hand.

    The incident ended with the suspect being Tasererd.

    He was later named as Tom Smith, 36, and is reportedly homeless.

    He is due in court to face charges of assaulting emergency workers and causing criminal damage, and is due to appear at Norwich magistratescourt at a later date.
