Olympic medallist Max Whitlock's daughter, 二, joins him in the gym

Just hanging around with my Daddy! Willow, 二, joins her gold medallist father Max Whitlock in the gym

  • Willow Whitlock is learning routines in gym where her father, マックス, has trained since he was 12
  • Willow, from Basildon, エセックス, goes to the gym once a week ‘in a little group
  • ‘She can do handstands against the wall, forward rolls and tries cartwheels at home,’ says Max
  • Max has won six Olympic medals at three Games – gold in Tokyo, adding to his two golds and a bronze from Rio and two bronzes from London 2012
  • She’s not yet three but little Willow Whitlock is already taking it to the max. Just like her gymnast daddy, マックス.

For she appears to have started honing the skills that have made him a triple Olympic gold medallist.

Willow seems to know how to handle herself on the rings, as our exclusive photographs show, and is quickly learning other routines at the gym where her father has trained since he was 12.

The hard work has certainly paid off for Whitlock, 28, who gave a thrilling display on the pommel horse in Tokyo this summer to defend the Olympic title he won at Rio in 2016.

Whitlock has won six Olympic medals at three Games – gold in Tokyo, adding to his two golds and a bronze from Rio and two bronzes from London 2012.

His latest triumph memorably left Willow, who will be three in February, jumping for joy at home 6,000 miles away – even though she did not fully understand what was going on.

‘Willow knows I do gymnastics and I was in something called the Olympics and I was in a place called Tokyo.

‘At home she has a mini-trampoline and jumps on it and holds herself up on the bar on it and says she’s doing like me,’ said Whitlock.

‘She likes the gold medal because it looks cool and is shiny. But she is that young she doesn’t think too much of it.

Whitlock, who aims to compete in the Commonwealth Games and World Championships in 2022, admits he is yet to resume training since Tokyo but has been doing ‘normal stuffwith his family.

‘This is my longest time I’ve had off gym in my career,’ 彼は言った.
