Pandemic-hit Duncan Bannatyne wants £4million for his best hotel

EDEN CONFIDENTIAL: Pandemic-hit Duncan Bannatyne wants £4million for his best hotel

Having taken a £50 million hit during the pandemic, and with a glamorous wife 31 years his junior to keep happy, former DragonsDen star Duncan Bannatyne appears to be taking drastic action.

I can disclose that the tycoon, 72, has put the jewel in the crown of his hotel empire on the market.

Bannatyne — who was known for telling hapless wannabe entrepreneurs on the hit BBC2 business series ‘I’m Out— wants £4 million for the Charlton House Hotel & Spa in Somerset.

‘I think any business owner would be lying if they said they hadn’t been severely impacted by the pandemic,’ he tells me. ‘We certainly have. The hotel is housed in a converted Grade II-listed 17th-century stately home near Shepton Mallet.

The Scotsman insists: ‘I don’t want to sell any of my other hotels. This is the only one which doesn’t have connections to any of my health clubs, so it makes the most sense.

The foundry worker’s son from Clydebank also owns hotels in Durham, Darlington and Hastings, と同様 70 gyms and an estimated 50 spas as part of his Bannatyne Group.

The father-of-six married 41-year-old former receptionist Nigora Whitehorn in 2017, the year after he proposed in Monte Carlo, with a sparkler said to be worth £40,000. He first met Uzbekistan-born Nigora during a visit to his dentist in London’s Harley Street, where Nigora worked.

The divorce from his second wife, Joanne McCue, was reported to have cost him a staggering £345 million. Although his business suffered in the pandemic, Bannatyne has said he turned down a £250 million offer from an unnamed American company to buy his empire. Matthew Smith, of Knight Frank, the agency which is marketing the property, 確認します: ‘We are thrilled to act on behalf of the Bannatyne Group to source a new owner for the Charlton House Hotel and Spa.

Clara Loughran was among those unfortunate courtiers who lost their jobs when Prince Harry and Meghan quit royal duties and moved to the U.S.

昨日, しかしながら, she made an emotional return to a royal residence to collect a gong.

Clara, who was one of Harry’s closest aides, was presented with her insignia of the Royal Victorian Order at Windsor Castle by Princess Anne, on behalf of the Queen. Clara was in charge of project management for the Sussexes, having previously worked for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

BRIT Awards organisers think they’re being terribly ‘wokeby scrapping gender-specific categories, such as Best Female Artist, but Eighties star Patti Boulaye is unimpressed.

‘It’s so much rubbish,’ the singer and actress tells me at the British Curry Awards at Battersea Evolution in London.

‘Sometimes it’s best to leave things alone, because when you upset one thing you upset everything.

Nigeria-born Boulaye, 67, who starred in The Real Marigold Hotel, 追加します: ‘My female ancestors in west Africa went to war instead of the men. I don’t understand any of this one size fits all.

Keira Knightley reckons she has a historical-looking face. ‘I’ve done roughly half contemporary films — but they haven’t always done as well,’ 彼女が言います.

‘I think it has something to do with my face.

‘I get cast in period films more, and the roles I get in them have been more interesting.

‘I must have a face for period drama.

Not sure this is what the producers of her latest film would want to hear: it’s a contemporary comedy horror, 静かな夜, filmed during the first days of the pandemic.

Boris Johnson’s wife, キャリー, is passionate about ‘rewilding’. And now, I hear, one of her pals, wild animal breeder Derek Gow, has convinced a prominent aristocrat to abandon farming in favour of letting nature take hold.

James Lowther, who inherited his family’s castle in the Lake District, claims the farming practices of his father, the late Earl of Lonsdale, ‘trashed the land’.

He tells me: ‘I bulldozed the chicken sheds behind Lowther Castle and put together a plan to save it and the gardens.

Without the dairy, beef and chicken farming, how’s he making money? ‘I’ve built 600 beehives,’ 彼は説明する.
