Police arrest Labour councillor in Doncaster who was wanted in the US on drug distribution offences as he faces extradition
A Labour councillor has been suspended from the party after he was arrested for alleged drug distribution offences by officers acting for US authorities.
Daniel Barwell, who was elected to Doncaster Council in May 2021, faces being extradited after he was arrested in the South Yorkshire town where he lives on February 2.
He appeared in court in 伦敦 the following day where he was remanded in custody.

Barwell is understood the have been suspended by the Labour Party following his detention until the outcome of the case is known.

Barwell, who represented the Wheatley Hills and Intake ward on the council, made his first appearance before Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 二月 3, when extradition proceedings against him began.
