Princess Alexandra’s granddaughter Flora Ogilvy says she is ‘thrilled’ as she lands new role as Ambassador of the V&A Museum’s Young Patrons’ Circle

  • Princess Alexandra’s granddaughter Flora  Ogilvy has revealed she is ‘thrilled’ to have landed the new role of Ambassador of the V&A Museum’s Young Patrons’ Circle.

    The low-key royal, 26, who lives and works in London, recently hit the headlines when she married her Swedish beau Timothy Vesterberg, 26, in a ceremony attended by Prince Edward and the Countess of Wessex at St. James’s Palace. 

    Flora, who balances her royal duties, including joining the royal family on the balcony at Buckingham Palace at Trooping The Colour each year, with work as an art consultant, told Tatler she will ‘focus on education and outreach’ in the new role.

    She said: ‘During my master’s degree at The Courtauld Institute of Art, The National Art Library of the Victoria & Albert Museum was very inspiring.’

    Meanwhile  Euthymia Procopé, Senior Manager of the Young Patrons’ Circle, said they are ‘delighted’ that Flora would be representing the team. 

    She added:  ‘With her incredible energy, charm and outreach, we are confident she will bring added vibrancy to our lively group of budding philanthropists.’

    The V&A’s Young Patrons’ Circle was recently launched and brings together a ‘dynamic new group for art and design enthusiasts who share a passion for the designed world and a love for the V&A’.

    According to its website, the ‘vibrant network’ of individuals will enjoy ‘behind-the-scenes access at the V&A through curator-led tours, fashion shows, visits to artists’ and designers’ studios and private collections, and invitations to selected private views and exclusive social events.’

    Membership starts at an annual contribution of £1,000, comprising £400 to cover membership benefits and a voluntary donation of £600 eligible for Gift Aid.  

    The news comes days after Flora shared a glimpse into her wedding to beau Timothy online.  

    Flora originally tied the knot with the Swedish financier, 27, in September 2020 with the couple exchanging vows in a private ceremony at St James’s Palace amidst strict Covid restrictions. 

    However the couple were joined by friends and family at St James in September as their marriage was blessed.

    Posting two previously unseen snaps on Instagram last week, Flora shared a glimpse inside the church as she walked down the aisle alongside her cousin Marina Windsor, writing: ‘So grateful.’

    In another black-and-white photo, the bride could be seen snuggling up with new husband Timothy.

    Flora wore a stunning white lace bridal Phillipa Lepley gown, a pearl detailed tiara, and held a small posy, later posing with her husband underneath an archway adorned with white flowers. 

    Later, attendees arrived at exclusive London hotel Claridge’s where they could be seen gathering in a bar area and enjoyed a traditional Swedish toast to the bride and groom.

    Among the guests at the blessing event at St James’ were Prince Edward and Sophie Wessex, who beamed at cameras as they arrived. 

    Last year, Flora shared snaps of her wedding day after marrying Timothy in a lowkey ceremony amid Covid-19 restrictions. 

    Due to strict Covid restrictions on weddings at the time, the couple were only allowed to have a small group of family and friends attend their big day.  

    Flora announced the news of the wedding in September 2020 with an Instagram post in which she said: ‘We are truly overjoyed and look forward to celebrating next year.’

    Born in Edinburgh, Flora grew up in a 1780s country house on Scotland’s East coast, before her parents moved to Nantucket, where they now live.

    Formerly a professional ice hockey player in his native Sweden, the gorgeous blond Swede is a regular fixture on Flora’s Instagram page since they got together in May of last year. 

    The couple are believed to have had somewhat of a whirlwind romance after meeting and announced their engagement in November 2019. 

    Sharing the news of her engagement on Instagram, she posted: ‘We’re engaged! My beloved Timothy asked me to marry him and we’re blissfully happy.’
