    Clad in fascinators, sky high heels and frilly dresses, well-dressed women looked delighted to be back at the event after a two-year hiatus.

    The high-profile race meeting, which is formally known as Yorkshire Ebor Festival, starts with the Juddmonte International today and runs over four days, culminating on Saturday.

    There is no formal dress code at the Ebor Festivalwith the exception of an obligatory jacket, shirt and tie for men in the County Stand.

    The festival is widely regarded as the most prestigious meeting at York in the calendar. Each day racegoers will have the opportunity to watch and participate in the Ebor Fashion Lawn, a catwalk culminating in the announcement of the ‘best dressed racegoerpicked by a panel of judges.

    Among the best-dressed revellers today was a woman in a canary yellow dress with a matching fascinator and silver earrings, while another opted for an all-white number and oversized hat. Some ladies chose monochrome numbers while other picked out eye-catching coral and shades of pink.
