  • A promising teenage athlete was found dead in his car last week after 50 bullets were fired into his vehicle.

    Ladarius Clardy, 18, a Kennesaw State University student, was pulled from his car after it crashed down and embankment in the 佛罗里达 Panhandle on July 1.

    He died on the scene, and a 19-year-old passenger was taken to hospital.

    Sheriff Chip W. Simmons said that most of the 50 rounds struck the driver’s door.

    ‘The injuries that Ladarius Clardy suffered ultimately took his life,’ 他说.

    ‘This case cannot go unsolved. There’s a family that’s grieving, there’s a community that’s grieving. There are individuals within this Sheriff’s Office that are grieving. This is one of our children in Escambia County.

    ‘We talked every morning, whether I called him or he called me — whether it was a text message or a FaceTime — just to motivate each other.

    ‘Just the small things; the simple things. He was my everything. He was more than a son.

    Clardy was a backup quarterback for KSU and had arrived in town just hours before he died, Fox5 reported.

    ‘He had just left my house, 好, my auntie’s house because she lives next door,’ said Jada Floyd, 一个家庭朋友.

    ‘And I was just talking to him and I was telling him about my birthday celebration on Tuesday. And he’s like ‘I’m gonna be there for sure if I can.

    She said the entire community was grieving.

    Clardy made a name for himself in Pensacola as a honor student and playing football for his hometown team at Pine Forest High School before signing to the Kennesaw State Owls in 2019.

    ‘Football has always been important to him,’ Floyd added.

    ‘He was humble. He stayed to himself. He wasn’t for the streets.

    KSU head football coach Brian Bohannon said the team is ‘devastated and heartbrokenover the teen’s death.

    ‘Ladarius was an excellent teammate and left a mark on this program with his positive attitude,’ 他说.
