A skyscraper in New York has unveiled a dizzying new tourist attraction – a glass-bottomed, mirrored observation deck 1,000 feet up.
Summit, a sky-high experience that spans the top four floors of One Vanderbilt in Manhattan, welcomed its first daring visitors to a preview Wednesday.
The attraction, called Summit One Vanderbilt, includes an outdoor terrace more than 1,200 공중에 발, accessible by transparent elevators that take visitors up the side of the building, which sits next to Grand Central Station.
Each elevator, known as ‘Ascent’, 이다 90 평방 피트. They are the largest glass-floor elevators in the world, shooting up 1,000 feet in just 42 초.
Those brave enough to visit the 77-story, 1,401-foot tower will get incredible views of Manhattan and its surrounding areas, including New Jersey and Brooklyn.

Although not the tallest building in New York City, One Vanderbilt will overtake the 1,396-foot-high tower at 432 Park Ave. as the tallest building in the heart of Midtown Manhattan, but it’s still nearly 400 feet shorter than NYC’s tallest building One World Trade Center, which rises 1,776 피트.
For those with strong stomachs, there are also 1,063-foot-high, glass-bottomed booths overlooking Madison Avenue, called ‘Levitation.’
All amenities are scheduled to open to the public on Oct. 21.
The exhibit includes an outdoor terrace bar. It has the ‘highest urban outdoor alpine meadow in the world,’ the company said in a statement.
Marc Holliday, chairman and CEO of the project’s developer SL Green, said it provides people with ‘the best, amplified views in all of New York City. ‘

Created by Kenzo Digital, ‘Air’ combines lighting, sound and production design to totally surround visitors with the New York skyline over the 91st to 93rd floors.

For those who want a drink along with the view, there will be a terrace bar
A Nordic-themed lounge and café called Après, with interiors by architecture studio Snøhetta, will serve snacks and cocktails.
Summit is a $3.3 billion development designed by architecture firm Kohn Pedersen Fox at the top of One Vanderbilt. It will open for visitors on October 21, with adult tickets at $39.
