    The six-year-old Alaskan Malamute was taken to the vets in Shanxi, northern China  by its owner, known as as Ms Xu, where the animal was found to have numerous tumours growing inside its liver and a swollen abdomen. 

    Footage, filmed on January 20, was posted to social media and showed the dog lying on his side before looking up at his owner and appearing to wave his two front paws at her.

    Ms Xu – who adopted her beloved Alaskan Malamute in 2015 – claimed that the animal’s health drastically declined within a week of him falling ill.

    During the video, the dog can be seen putting both of its paws together and moving them forwards towards the camera and then back again. 

    Ms Xu said that she believed that her beloved pet was waving goodbye to her before passing on.

    At the time, she said she told her dog: ‘If you feel uncomfortable, just leave, don’t endure it’, which is what prompted the animal to ‘wave’ its final goodbye.

    The footage shows the dog apparently waving goodbye to its owner before shuffling around and lying down. The canine reportedly passed away shortly thereafter.

    The heartbreaking video has since been shared widely online and users have sent their condolences to the owner.

    One viewer wrote: ‘The most fearful thing for pet owners is the moment of parting.’

    Another said: ‘It’s just that he can’t speak, but he actually understands everything.’

    One more added: ‘I really can’t watch this kind of thing with hairy children.’
