Spurs officials had been in talks with representatives from European football’s governing body on Wednesday with a view to getting the game against Rennes halted after the club reported 13 positive coronavirus casesincluding eight players.

Tottenham now face the difficult task of rescheduling their European fixture before the December 31 date UEFA has set for all group games to be played.

Spurs have a jam-packed schedule this month, and could ask the Premier League to postpone one of their fixtures or request to the EFL to reschedule their Carabao Cup quarter-final versus West Ham in a bid to fit in the game against Rennes.

The feeling out of Tottenham on Wednesday night was that they would seek a re-arrangement of the Rennes game rather than consider forfeiting.
