  • A University Challenge captain left viewers bewitched during the latest episode of the BBC2 academic quizbut not by his intellect, but with his very silky voice.

    Philosophy student Atyab Rashid, 22, led his team, King’s College 런던, to a quarter-final place in a convincing 165 ...에 115 victory over Hertford College Oxford during the latest episode.

    하나, for many of those watching the quiz show from home, series favourite Rashid’s voice was once again the main eventwith one viewer likening it to ‘warm honey.

    Another fan suggested that Rashid, who hails from from Daventry in Northamptonshire, has such impressive diction he ‘makes 여왕 sound common’. One offered that he was so smooth, he should ‘be the next James Bond’.

    The student was joined on the show by teammates Ananth Sathyanath, of Hampshire, who is studying medicine; developmental biology student Rachel Bedwin, from south west London; and Oliver Beard from south east London.

    And there was some anticipation surrounding Rashid’s return to screens; many were smitten by the sound of his voice as soon as the contestants introduced themselves.

    It was a more convincing victory for King’s this time aroundin their last appearance on the show in July, they snatched victory from Glasgow by just 15 pointsbut had a comfortable 50-point margin in their latest match.

    Away from the television studio, the 22-year-old is involved in non-profit organisation the Young Barnet Foundation, which helps grow local activities and opportunities for children and young people across London.

    He is also a committed member of the Liberal Democrats Party and is the vice-president of the King’s College London Liberal Democrat Society, having spoken at events on topics such as global democracy and the EU.

    Alongside his studies, Rashid runs a blog where he shares political musings on events.
