Wisconsin senators warn in rare joint statement outsiders may try to exploit Waukesha tragedy that killed six and injured five dozen for ‘political purposes’
ウィスコンシン‘s two US senators, one Republican and one Democrat, came together in a rare bipartisan plea, urging outside groups not to politicize the Waukesha Christmas parade attack so that the community can heal.
Senators Ron Johnson (R) and Tammy Baldwin (D) urged those who ‘may attempt to exploit the tragedy that occurred last Sunday in Waukesha for their own political purposes’ to ‘cease and desist’ in their Saturday statement.
‘[Local official’s] top priority is to begin the healing process within Waukesha by providing comfort and support to surviving family members of the deceased, and those injured both in body and spirit,’ 彼らが書きました.
‘They must also conduct a thorough investigation and afford the accused full due process. These will not be easy tasks, and will be made even more difficult if conducted within a politically charged atmosphere.’
The invocation comes a week after Darrell Brooks, 39, plowed his SUV into a local holiday parade on November 21, killing six and injuring 60.
The statement did not call on any specific individuals or groups.

火曜日に, Johnson blamed left-wing rhetoric and policies for the massacre.
‘When you look the other way, when you almost encourage lawlessness — just like, let’s face it, you have political figures during the summer riots of 2020 encouraging people to donate to the bail fund so you can bail these people out,’ Johnson said on Fox & 友達.
‘When you encourage lawlessness, you’re going to get more of it.’
‘It becomes more and more violent. It starts spilling over from crime-ridden, generally Democrat-governed cities into the surrounding areas,’ the senator added. ‘I think that’s probably what we witnessed here in Waukesha.’
Johnson appeared to be referring to ‘outside agitators’ who travelled to different cities last summer for Black Lives Matter protests, bringing further chaos to rallies that spiraled out of control.
The protests, set in motion when former Minneapolis Police Officer Derek Chauvin killed George Floyd by kneeling on his neck for nine minutes during an arrest. The protests that took place in 140 cities throughout the country were mostly peaceful, but led to a collective $1-2billion dollars in damage in insurance claims, による Axios.

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey claimed that protesters were ‘coming in largely from outside of the city, from outside of the region, to prey on everything we have built over the last several decades’ last summer, while Attorney General Bill Barr claimed that ‘groups of outside radicals and agitators are exploiting the situation to pursue their own separate and violent agenda.’
Eleven-year-old Jessalyn Torres, one of nine children injured in the 虐殺, remains on a ventilator nearly a week after Brooks blew past police barricades and hurtled through a group of spectators with his Ford Escape.
She suffered a broken pelvis and femur, a fractured skull, lacerations to her lungs, and lost a kidney after Darrell Brooks, 39, plowed through the Waukesha holiday parade.
Brooks, a career criminal, had been released from jail after he allegedly ran his girlfriend over with the SUV earlier in November.
以前は, he had called for violence against white people, expressed his admiration of Adolf Hitler’s genocidal mass murder of Jewish people and was convicted of statutory rape in 2006 for having sex with a 15-year-old girl when he was 24.
‘No mother should ever go through this. This is a very traumatic ordeal,’ Kohnke, a mother of four, told the Post.

‘The hardest part was not being with everyone and Jessalyn, in the condition she is, was not able to be with her family either,’ 彼女は言いました.
Kohnke related her experience of watching her daughter struggle to breathe in a series of Facebook posts.
‘I hate watching my daughter go through this,’ she said in one note. ‘Cry a little tear, suck it up, and stay strong for her.’
‘Let me say this again… she is a fighter!’ Kohnke wrote in another post.
‘I sat here and held her hand, kissed her head and just watched and cried and told her I was so proud of her.’
Jessalyn, who heartbreakingly told doctors to ‘glue her back together’ after being transported to the hospital, is among four children who remain in serious condition after the massacre, with three others in fair condition.

Kohnke said her daughter was dancing in the parade with the Waukesha Xtreme Dance group last Sunday when Brooks barreled into the crowd of spectators, with the impact of the crash throwing her into the air.
Kohnke has raised some $110,000 in an online fundraiser to help cover Jessalyn’s medical bills.
火曜日に, Mail Online reported that Darrell Brooks Jr is an amateur rapper whose lyrics include ‘f*** the pigs’ and ‘f*** Donald Trump.’
Brooks, who is also known by his stage name, MathBoi Fly, is also a convicted sex offender.
Brooks was bailed out of jail on November 19 after posting a $1,000 cash bond on charges of battery, 秩序を乱す行動, bail jumping and resisting an officer.
The Milwaukee District Attorney admitted on Monday the bond was ‘inappropriately low.’
The charges are related to an incident on November 2 involving the mother of one of his children in Milwaukee.
Brooks is said to have hunted her down in a hotel before following her in the street in his car, demanding that she get in, before ‘punching her with a closed fist’ and then ‘running her over.’
Court records show he was charged on November 5, and paid cash bond on the 11th, but the records weren’t updated until the 19th.
